5 Great Date Night Board Games for Couples

Love is in the air! And that is all we’ve ever wanted. But, you know, times have changed. Over the past year, we’ve grown more aware of how much more important our time together is than any other gift. So, how should you spend your time together this Valentine’s Day? Well, playing board games, of course! And to help you out, we picked some of our favorites to play with your significant other. So here are 5 great date night board games for couples.
5. Far Away
What better place to take your date is there, other than in space? And since Elon Musk is not moving fast enough with his rockets, the best alternative we could find is Far Away. Far Away is an excellent space exploration game for two players. Together, the two of you will find a brand new planet, then try to set up shop on it while staying clear of the planet’s beasts and plant life. One thing’s for sure, if you play this game, your relationship will not need any more space.
4. Tang Garden
Tang Garden is hands down the best looking board game out there. Every single card or tile you’ll get your hands on is a work of incredible art, beautifully illustrated and delightfully immersive. As for mechanics, you’ll compete in placing tiles, setting up landscapes, decorating them and making the most points based on the people that watch over said landscapes. Simple, gorgeous and perfect for a couple’s date night.
3. Blossoms
WARNING: Do not bring this game home to your significant other without bringing them flowers too. You’ll end up either dumped or in a dumpster, so a loss either way. But, alongside some flowers, Blossoms is a perfect fit for a Valentine’s Day game session. The aim of this card game is to push your luck in an attempt to grow the most beautiful flowers possible, growing them out step by step. It is cutesy and straightforward but also has a slightly more complicated variant, which you can access by just turning the pot tiles face-up. This way, you can learn the ropes without these extra powers, then turn them on for more strategy.
2. Patchwork
As much as we’ve loved the previous entries, the difference between them and the top two is astronomical. These next two entries are by far the best you can find. First off, Patchwork! Patchwork is a cute two-player competitive game that blends Tetris elements, drafting, and income building. Your goal is to build up a beautiful Patchwork blanket. The only way you can do that is by getting yourself some buttons. Some pieces give you buttons and then buttons give you even more pieces. The concept is relatively simple, but the gameplay is exciting and filled with interaction. You’ll have to fight your lover for the right pieces, but at the same time, both of you are building a puzzle of your own, with its own beautiful patterns. It is the perfect blend of strategy and relaxation.
2. Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective
And the best game, by a long shot, Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective. This mystery and crime game will win over your heart and your significant other’s heart and, before you even know it, you’ll both wanna split up to get together with the game. It is a masterpiece of deduction with a narrative edge that places you in the shoes of Sherlock’s helpers. Using the map of London and the city’s directory, you drift around, trying to pick up clues for a series of 10 crimes and find out who’s responsible. What’s more, the dots don’t connect with just the clues themselves. Instead, they require real deduction and creative problem-solving. This game will make you both feel stupid in the worst way possible and make you bond in the best way possible.
And that about wraps up our Valentine’s Day games! If you picked up any of these for you and your beloved, be sure to let us know how it went in the comment section! And if you need more ideas for your Valentine’s Day game night, be sure to check out games for two section on the online shop. And don’t forget, make love, not war!
