If you’re anything like us, you want to be taken to a whole new world, because, let’s face it, the one we’re in is pretty lame! Well, worry not! We here, at the Guild Hall, have gathered the best games of the Sci-fi genre, meant to transport you into galaxies far far away and provide troves of fun! Here are our top 5 picks:
Gaia Project
We’re starting our picks with a bang! Gaia Project is a difficult game of space conquest, but not through fighting! In this vast and complex galaxy, you’ll be trying to further your research, gain power and ore and terraform planets to your liking! The game also has unique factions with special abilities and starting points, making the economic battlefield even harder to predict! Not to mention this game is on BoardGameGeek’s top 10 games of all time!
Fallout
Fallout needs no introduction. The board game adaptation, luckily, is just as fun and whimsical as the original videogame! You’ll be exploring new areas of the destroyed world, with plenty of quests to complete and upgrades to pick up. The charm of the Fallout world is ever-present, dazzling you with beautiful miniatures, unique dice, and more! There’s few games with this amount of flavor and even fewer part of such a great world!
Pulsar 2849
Pulsar 2849 might seem like a lot at first, but this game of wondrous space exploration and exploitation is fun because of its complexity! In a quick-paced race for energy (space juice!), your wits and the dice you choose will be the things to define you! Will you end up as a gigantic space-corporation, or will you be crumpled beneath your competitors’ feet?
Star Wars: Imperial Assault
It is no surprise that we’ve included a Star Wars game, is it? How could we forgo the largest and most popular sci-fi universe the world has ever seen? Star Wars: Imperial Assault is a fantastic campaign-based roleplaying game in which each player will select a character and slowly build up their abilities and become stronger. A group of players will combine to form a party of space adventurers, while one player will take over the evil Empire, fighting to take down the others in team-based fights every mission! This game is vast and filled with awesome moments in a legendary universe. What’s there not to like?
Scythe
Not too long ago, Scythe took the board gaming community by storm. This game of alternate-universe semi-apocalyptic 1920s eastern Europe gives every player full control over a powerful faction. Thus begins a battle for resources, progress, and dominion. The game is filled with many intricacies, fun mechanics and stunning artwork, making it an incredibly immersive and engaging experience that, although rooted within war, encourages thought and strategy more than endless battle. Rarely has a game been offered us so much joy through its ingenuity, so we’re in love with Scythe.
